Arlington Hockey Club Mission

To offer a high quality, affordable opportunity for kids to play hockey.  AHC strives to provide age-appropriate and skill-appropriate player development and coaching.  We strive to build solid foundational skills as part of our travel, developmental and in-house programs, which will enable us to have a strong, sustainable program year after year.

 

AHC practices USA Hockey's American Development Model, and over 75% of AHC coaches have college or high school hockey experience.

ED BURNS ARLINGTON RINK COVID POLICIES FOR VISITING TEAMS
 Based on the most recent guidance from the State, current COVID protocols for the Burns Rink are as follows:
  • For games that take place at Ed Burns Arena in Arlington, each player may have two adult spectators and their siblings attend the game.
    • Before entering the arena you must sign in
    • All spectators and siblings must wear face masks at all times, sit in the bleachers, and socially distant while at games.
  • Masks are required for all players at all times, including when putting on and taking off their skates and in games, at all rinks in Massachusetts.
  • All locker rooms are closed.
  •   Players must arrive fully dressed at Ed Burns and put their skates/ helmets/ gloves on in the lobby area, After the previous group has fully left the rink area players must then move their bags and all other belongings into the rink area at an unoccupied chair.
  • After the game players should remove only their helmets and skates, put on their face masks, and both players and spectators must leave the rink through the marked side exit door.  
  • No outside gatherings in the rink area are allowed. associated with hockey teams.

Developmental & Instructional Hockey 2020-2021 Season

 

Developmental Hockey

    • Assessment Skates will be conducted on 5 Dec 2020 & 6 Dec 2020.
    • Team assignments will be communicated as early as 7 Dec 2020.
    • Practice will be held Saturday morning; either the 7-7:45A slot or the 7:50-8:35A slot.
    • Games will be held Sunday night; either the 4:10-5:05P slot or the 5:20-6:15P slot.
    • The season will end the weekend of March 6 & 7, 2021.

 

*Please make sure that you have checked-in with the AHC Registrar Bruce Newell before taking the ice.

*Please make sure you come to the correct time which you have been assigned as we must follow restrictions and guidance to the number of players on the ice.

Saturday 5 Dec 2020

  • 7:00A - 7:45A Developmental players with the last name starting with letters A-K
  • 7:50A – 8:40A Developmental players with the last name starting with letters L-Z

Sunday 6 Dec 2020

  • 4:10P – 5:05P Developmental players with the last name starting with letters L-Z
  • 5:20P – 6:15P Developmental players with the last name starting with letters A-K

 

Instructional Hockey (learn to skate/learn to play)

Below are designated vacation weekends, no hockey will be played.

  • December 26, 2020 – December 27, 2020 – Holiday Recess/Winter Vacation.
  • January 16, 2021 – January 17, 2021 – Martin Luther King Holiday Weekend.
  • February 13, 2021 – February 14, 2021 – Winter Recess/February Vacation.

If you are new to the program, we welcome any Mom, Dad, Uncle, and or Grandparent to join AHC as a coach.  If you are interested, please contact Jimmy Conway or Bobby Leighton, contact information below.

Please note that you will need to register with USA Hockey, complete the mandatory background requirements, and submit this information to the Arlington Hockey Club.

We will have a mandatory coaching meeting on Thursday night, the 12th of November from 7:30P – 8:30P via Web Ex/ Zoom Conference.  Invite will be sent Wednesday the 11th.

Lastly, I wanted to introduce Bobby Leighton who will be Co-Director of the Instructional and Developmental Program.  Bobby has been involved with the program for 5 plus years and brings great knowledge, dedication, and fun to our hockey community.  Bobby will be managing many of the on-ice activities this season and moving forward.
