On to the MA Frozen Four!!!
Congratulations to the Arlington High Spy Ponders on winning their quarterfinal game against St. John's Prep, 2-1, in the Massachusetts State High School Hockey Tournament. In a very hard fought game, the teams were even after the first period, with Drew Beck scoring the first goal of the game in the second period. The game remained tied late in the third period, when SJP pulled their goalie and scored on a one-timer with 16 seconds to go in regulation. The game proceeded scoreless through the first 4v4 overtime period, and into the second 3v3 overtime, when the game winner came with Kurt Beck rushing the puck across the slot for a backhand shot that generated a rebound directly to JP Messuri for the game winner!!
AHS's next game will be the State Semifinal game, against (#14) St. John's Shrewsbury, which will be Sunday, March 9, at 6:30PM at the Tsongas Center in Lowell. AHS is the only remaining public school in the MA Frozen Four. Tickets are available here.
